Although filmed in the 21st century, this documentary is an adventure into the world of music as it probably existed in the Middle Ages of Europe. Despite globalization, isolated pockets of population around the Carpathian Alps of Romania preserved their customs and their instruments.
The violin, cobza, broanca, tziboulca, tzitera, cembalo are the string instruments that create the incredible sound of the Romanian folklore. Percussion instruments like the bell board (toaca), the cow bells and little bells are so uniquely different that you’ll probably hear them for the very first time used in the making of music. Discover what is a buhai, or a dramba or how to make music using a simple leaf or a fish scale. For anyone that is seriously studying music, this film is an outstanding research tool.
