Having the provincial life of Moldova as a backdrop, director Nicolae Margineanu masterfully re-creates the atmosphere surrounding the creative genius of the two greats of Romanian literature. A jovial Ion Creanga is played by Dorel Visan and a serious Mihai Eminescu brought to life by Adrian Pintea.
Marcel Iures (Hart’s War, Peacemaker, Interview with the Vampire) creates a memorable secondary role by playing a Jewish librarian in close proximity to the main characters.
